We’ve all had to learn a new language and evaluation process this year, as we weigh out the potential risks of resuming our favorite activities and past-times — including our self-care routines. It’s no secret this year has been incredibly difficult in so many ways, and has left us all scrambling for ways to care for our minds and bodies. The good news is that Floatation Therapy is among the safest, most rigorously sanitary ways around to find some relief.
Not only will your experience take place in your own private room, but rest assured that your visit from start to finish has your safety at the forefront. We’ve always been really invested in keeping our float pods the cleanest they can be, but with COVID, we have redoubled our efforts to leave no stone unturned in our quest for a safe, clean float experience. Let’s look more in depth at what goes on behind the scenes to create that safe float!
Just last year, we
upgraded the sterilization units in each of our I-sopod float tanks. Using UV light to trigger a photocatalytic molecular reaction, the process results in clearer and cleaner water than chlorine, bromine, or hydrogen peroxide alone can produce. The units instantaneously kill viruses, pathogens, and bacteria, and transform other contaminants like residual lotions and skincare products into their most harmless molecular forms. The end product is just oxygen and carbon dioxide (and clean water, of course!). This same technology is even used to turn sewage water into drinkable water for municipal systems.
It takes about 30-40 minutes for the entire filtration cycle to run, and we do it between each and every session. You can be sure that the water is absolutely clean and sanitized when you step into your pod for your float session.
In addition to all of the technology helping to keep your float safe, there’s also a more old-school method at work: Epsom salt! There are over 1,200 pounds of magnesium salts in each tank which creates the unique weightless experience you’re there for. A similar experience can be found in another place – the Dead Sea. Aptly named for the dearth of life to be found there, the salt-rich environment is inhospitable to living organisms, and the same is true in our float tanks.
Each client is also asked to shower and be squeaky clean before even getting in, so we all do our part in letting these other systems take care of the rest and ensure a sanitary experience for everyone.
COVID Safety: What to Expect Outside the Tank
Okay, so the tank is super clean. What about the rest of your visit? There are a few more ways we work together with you to make your experience the absolute safest it can be.
We hope that during this time of added stress, uncertainty, and change that you are finding ways to care for yourself. We are honored to be able to offer this supportive service to our community as a safe place to recharge and heal.
